Author Notes
This story was written many, many years ago. Sadly, I didn't note down when I first wrote it, so I can only guess; maybe like... uuh... close to a decade ago? I don't think it's been 10 years, but close enough, like maybe 8 or 7 years ago. And God, how much I've changed since then.
As I edited through the story just now, two things stood out to me:
1. How I was not exempt from the mainstream, commonly believed ideas of how romantic love is supposed to be. Like, back then, I also believed that a feeling of possessiveness like what the "I" in the story shows is just normal in a romantic relationship. And maybe it still is "normal" in a way that many people still exhibit that behaviour. But if we are talking about "normal" that means "healthy attitude" towards relationship, I have learned that when you say someone is "yours" it should better mean that they belong with you rather than to you.
And so said, the second thing I noticed while editing was:
2. How my "children" (the characters you read in the story) would have cringed if I were to read this story to them again, lol. And yet it's not without a kind of genuine warm feeling of nostalgia at the memory of this particular "dream."
Throughout the years, as I have evolved, so have my "children." (If this doesn't make sense to you, let me introduce you to: IFS model. (insert the article to lonerwolf about IFS here)) And those two--the "I" is a guy named Aron, and the girl is now named Violet--they know that what going on between them back then was something quite genuine. They truly loved each other back then, and even if they are now not in as an intimate term anymore, they still hold a relationship that is just like family, without bitterness or whatsoever for what has passed between them. (Well, Violet might be just a tad bit worried about Aron; since she has gotten herself another partner, but Aron doesn't really have anyone taking care of him atm. //gossip)
. . .
Well. So, yeah. The story is an old one, so I can't possibly remember every emotion that had inspired me to write the story. But I tried to edit it and write blurbs and such while trying to keep the vibe as true to the original feelings of the "dream" nonetheless. I hope you find the story enjoyable :3
AND YESH! THAT'S FINALLY ANOTHER ONE OUT OF MY SYSTEM, AND INTO THE PORTFOLIO!!
For future plan, I have another old twine game to publish, but I'm still debating whether to publish it after a VN or before it, since they may explain a bit about the characters and how their realm work... or not. But hopefully I can publish that Twine game before this year end. We'll see.
